Little Manor - Therapeutic Activities

The home’s policy on in-house and community based activities takes into account the individual resident’s interests, skills, experiences, personality, medical condition and assessed needs. The home offers a wide range of activities designed to encourage the resident to maintain mobility, and most importantly take an interest in life and gain new experiences.

As far as possible each day, residents are provided with opportunities for community access through visits to the local shops, nearby town or participating in recreational activities. There are also opportunities to engage in a purposeful range of activities designed to ensue that the social, leisure, work and therapeutic needs of each person is properly met. Residents may attend the local church services, visit a variety of local amenities, concert halls and cinemas in Colchester, Clacton, Ipswich and Harwich, enrol in local college courses of interest and visit local public houses, cafes and restaurants. Access is also available to trampoline for the disabled, disabled riding which has facilities for both independent and dependent wheelchair users and the local library as well as a drive around the countryside or coast.

All outings into community settings are geared to individual resident’s needs and capabilities and as a result, a limited number of residents can go at any one time in order for the care staff to be able to provide the appropriate levels of support required.
Should any resident show the potential for open or supported employment, then every encouragement and assistance will be provided towards achieving that aim.

Staff encourage and in certain instances help individual resident’s to pursue their hobbies and interests. Activities that are available within the home include:
